Dara is a graduate of the University of British Columbia. She completed her Masters in Physiotherapy in 2006 and her Bachelor of Science in 2004.
She is a member of the Orthopedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute.
Dara completed extensive post-graduate training and obtained her Certificate of Intermediate Manual and Manipulative Therapy in 2010. She was certified by the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada to practice medical acupuncture in 2009. Dara also completed her training in Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) in 2012, via the Institute for the Study and Treatment of Pain (iSTOP). In November, 2014, Dara took a Vestibular Rehabilitation course that allows her to assess and treat various vestibular dysfunctions.
Dara welcomes patients of all ages and conditions. Dara also enjoys treating pre and postpartum women. She provides individualized treatments, which may include: manual therapy, medical acupuncture, IMS, exercise prescription and education. During her time at UBC, Dara was involved in research on both breast cancer related lymphedema and the effects of exercise on the quality of life in women living with breast cancer.
Dara is passionate about the outdoors and exercise. She recently retired from competitive women’s soccer, but continues to: run, cycle on her road bike, swim, snowboard, and snowshoe. Dara also enjoys to hike/trek and camp. She loves to travel the world, near and far, and is always ready to try something new!
